Duane’s interest in scuba began in 1993 when he went to the Boy Scouts of America’s National Scout Jamboree, where he was introduced to scuba gear and 15 minutes of bottom time. Fast forward about 20 years as he and his wife, Lisa, were making plans for their 15th wedding anniversary. When they walked into the shop and met Scuba Jenn inquiring about snorkel gear for the trip they walked out signed up for scuba classes. With a lot of help from his instructor, Chad, he conquered his many water fears and became a scuba diver. Less than 18 months later Duane had logged 66 dives from 3 different countries and had worked his way from Open Water on through Advanced Open Water, Rescue and Master Scuba Diver and joined the ranks of PADI pros as a Divemaster.
Duane’s drive as a professional diver comes from the extreme reward that diving brought after he worked through the challenges of facing his fears and getting certified. He has a passion for teaching and loves to see that look on new divers faces the first time they encounter the amazing underwater world.
Duane is also an amateur photographer and videographer and it didn’t take long for him to realize the opportunity to combine these loves. He has a passion for bringing the amazing underwater world to the surface through photo and video. He regularly posts his photo’s to flickr and when he can find time edit’s his videos for his Youtube series “Duane & Lisa’s Diving Adventures.” If you love capturing the creatures and sights of the sea to share with landlubbers, then grab your camera and join him on an underwater adventure today!
